Advocacy

  • - For devolution of more funds, functions and functionaries from Centre to State and from State to Local Governments
  • - For people friendly policies
  • - For recognising housing as a fundamental right
  • - For access to credit for the “unbankable”
  • - For responsive and effective administration and right to information
  • - For steady, documented improvement in sanitation and health services

COSTFORD continually seeks to extend its reach in the areas of advocacy, campaigns for societal improvement, and emergency response. For example, the organisation works in partnership with legal support and counseling services such as Niyama Sameeksha, Kerala Legal Service Authority (KELSA), District Legal Service Authority, and Nanma, a cell for prevention of suicide.

COSTFORDalso responds to emergencies. When communal riots erupt in communities such as Marada and Nadapuram, COSTFORD helps create interventions for community discussions to restore harmony. When natural disasters strike such as the Lathur and Gujarat earthquakes and the Orissa floods, COSTFORD responds with relief efforts to augment those of government and other NGOs
